So I've spent my afternoon wandering the fine streets of London, specifically Knightsbridge, Mayfair and Cardogen, and found these:

the F40 was hiding in an underground garage in Cardogen sqaure, along with many many other niceties, including about 6 Rolls Royce Phantoms/Dropheads, lots of Astons, Bentleys, Porsches, Range Rovers, and several other covered up cars like a Dino and a Mini.

Ferrari Concept by Pininfarina, couldnt get a better picture because i wasnt allowed in the shop. something about 'scruffy 23 year old with camera clearly not a customer'...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Mclaren Mercedes SLR 722 edition outside harrods was a nice spot.

This GTR took off from the lights with some serious speed, which I was (clearly) not prepared for...

oooh is that what that plate means? I saw lots of plates of that style, figured it was diplomatic, but didnt realise it was specific to Kuwait.

The first three numbers denote the country to which the diplomatic plate is given to, the D denotes dimplomatic and the second three numbers essentially denote the level or rather type of staff.

Pretty much every supercar I've never seen IRL was present in London when I went. I must go back.

My friend got a ride in an F12 and sat in a Veyron last night after coming out of a club in Mayfair. Jealousy levels at about 11/10 for this news. Thats why i thought id go look round today,

Did you get any photos of police cars while there? You probably would of seen four different types/colours? City of London Police (silver cars), Metropolitan Police (white cars, orange stripes (though some have adopted blue and yellow battenburg livery)), Police (white cars, blue and yellow battenburg (squares) livery) and Diplomatic Protection Group (red cars). You may also of come across British Transport Police and Military Police.

Kinja'd!!!

A yellow dot or circle on the rear pillar or window denotes 'armed officers'.

I definitely saw met police, the red one (I always thought that was just armed police, rather than diplomatic protection group), and likely to have seen standard city of london police too. I didnt take any pictures of them though. Partly due to thinking hmm, might cause problems if i photograph the police ha. I know its legal, but its abit odd, so might arouse suspicion.

City of London Police just operate in the 'city of London'.

Kinja'd!!!

The DPG are responsible for Royal and diplomatic duties.

Most are okay with pictures being taken as long as you don't get 'shirty' when approached as that just gets their backs up and things get silly after that.

I live an hour north of London and I've never seen an armed policeman on the street...London must be that much more dangerous I guess

I'm about two minutes drive from the Scottish border (on the English side). We don't see armed officers often except when a senior member of the Royal family visit or security for high security court cases from Liverpool, etc... Such as armed robbers are up in court. Ocassionally I've seen them at train stations when there is heightened security and always a airports.

I see them at some other times also but the general public don't.

I read up a bit on this and apparently only police in NI carry regularly. That said an armed cop met me in an interview room when I was reporting an incident. Strange an officer would carry inside a station when not carrying on the street!!

Northern Ireland (Police Service Northern Ireland) police are routinely armed where in the rest of the U.K. there are very few armed officers. Out of the Scottish police force of 18,000 officers only about 300 are routinely armed.

I love the fact that gun crime is so low here that the one profession in public service you'd expect to carry, don't. England in general is just a really safe place and that's great!

It's safer than most but knife crime is relatively high which counts for the vast majority of armed response team callouts.

Only the other day (I believe near London) a 25 year old religious convert used a machete to cut off cats heads and then turned on an 82 year old woman and then severed her head.

This is the incident I referred to.

Not a pretty way to go. They should put the person down the same way as that person did to the victim. May she rest in piece.

Madness! I skimmed through it half expecting to find some reference to insanity or psychopathic break... or maybe...what else right? Guess that's for the courts to decide

It's the same old story told through time of a small groups interpretation of something sacred and wanted to force it on others.

The story stays the same, it's only the characters that change.

Anyway. Britain is just as safe if not safer than many other countries but that doesn't mean you should drop your guard. Keep your wits about you and be safe and don't let it change who you are.
